We just got back from an amazing trip to Haiti to document the goings-on of a school down there funded by an American professor. It was such a great experience, and such a beautiful country, but also an eye-opener. I've never seen poverty like that. I will never take what I have for granted again - like my education (I used to dread going to school everyday..some people I met in Haiti had never even held a pencil before), my president (as wrong as he may be sometimes), my garbageman ( I never have to worry about my city's garbage lining the streets), my electricity and running water (who knew that this was such a luxury?), or even gas prices (we paid $13 US for a gallon of gas in a plastic jug...the stations were out of gas completely).

We will be putting together some videos for Dr. Reynolds to use to raise money and awareness for the kids down there who so desperately need help, as well as for a project called Vanilla that will be serving as a means of sustainable income for the families that participate. I hope what we do can be used to help the country of Haiti get back on the feet. Check out our blog for more stories and photos at www.bedouinsinternational.org/blog. If you want to be on our mailing list to keep up to date with what we're doing (and get info on when projects like this one are finished) then e-mail jessi@bedouinsinternational.org with your name and e-mail address. Thanks for keeping in touch!
